Things to do in Kankaria & Maninagar

Kankaria Lake, completed in 1451 under Sultan Qutb-ud-Din Ahmad Shah II, is the largest lake in Ahmedabad, and the lakefront the municipal corporation rebuilt in 2007–08 is the city's favourite family outing. A toy train circles the water, and the gated promenade takes in the Kamla Nehru Zoo, Kids City, the Nagina Wadi island garden, a tethered balloon and rows of food stalls. From 25 to 31 December the Kankaria Carnival fills it with free stage shows. EKA Arena next to the lake, a 20,000-seat stadium that converts into an indoor arena, hosts football, Pro Kabaddi and award shows. Kankaria East is the nearest metro station.
