Eating out is Ahmedabad's main form of nightlife, and the city takes it seriously. Manek Chowk in the old city turns into an open-air food market after 8 pm, the Law Garden food street runs every evening, and SG Highway and Sindhu Bhavan Road are lined with restaurants and cafés that stay busy past midnight on weekends. Food events follow the festival calendar: fafda and jalebi on Dussehra morning, undhiyu on Uttarayan, fasting menus in Navratri and sweets at Diwali. Around them you will find food festivals on the Sabarmati Riverfront and at club lawns, regional-cuisine weeks in hotels, home-chef pop-ups, baking and chocolate workshops and guided food walks through the pols. Most events are vegetarian, Jain options are common, and none serve alcohol.
