Things to do in C.G. Road

Chimanlal Girdharlal Road, always called C.G. Road, runs from Stadium Circle to Panchvati and is Ahmedabad's best-known shopping street: jewellers, clothing and electronics showrooms, bookshops and long-running snack stops around Municipal Market. Redesigned in the 1990s with wide pavements and service lanes, it is one of the few stretches in the city built for strolling. It matters for events mainly on big nights. Crowds gather here on 31 December, on India cricket wins and during festivals, and in recent years the police have closed the road to vehicles on New Year's Eve. Day to day, look for store launches and exhibitions. SP Stadium metro station is at the northern end.
