Indoor Things to Do in Ahmedabad

From April to June Ahmedabad's afternoons regularly cross 40°C, and the monsoon that follows brings its own washed-out days, so for half the year the sensible plan is an indoor one. The city has more of them than visitors expect. Its museums are among the best in western India: the Calico Museum of Textiles and the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum in Shahibaug, both visited by pre-booked tour, the L. D. Museum near Gujarat University, and the Conflictorium in Mirzapur, open from 11 am to 7 pm except Mondays. Amdavad ni Gufa, the underground gallery by B. V. Doshi and M. F. Husain, opens from 4 pm to 8 pm. Science City's aquatic and robotics galleries are fully air-conditioned. Evenings belong to the auditoriums: plays at Thakorbhai Desai Hall and Tagore Hall, comedy at the Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Auditorium, talks at the Ahmedabad Management Association.
