Film Screenings & Film Events in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad watches its films in multiplexes like every Indian city, but it has a few screens of its own. The Sunset Drive-In Cinema on Drive-In Road, open since the 1970s, shows new releases under the sky to an audience in cars and on its lawns. Gujarat Science City's IMAX 3D theatre runs science and nature films in the afternoon. Film clubs, design schools and independent cultural spaces such as Scrapyard in Paldi screen documentaries, short films and world cinema, usually followed by a discussion. Gujarati cinema, which has grown quickly over the past decade, holds its premieres and cast meet-and-greets in the city. Student film festivals at design and media schools open their programmes to the public each winter.
