Heritage Walks & History Events in Ahmedabad

Nothing is listed for coming up yet — new events are added every morning, so check back soon.

Ahmedabad's walled city, founded by Sultan Ahmad Shah in 1411, was inscribed by UNESCO in July 2017 as India's first World Heritage City, and heritage events start there. The municipal corporation's morning walk leaves the Swaminarayan Temple in Kalupur at about 7.45 am and ends at the Jama Masjid two and a half hours later; a night walk starts from the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque. Both cost ₹200 for Indian citizens. Private guides add food, photography and pol-house walks. Beyond the walls are Sabarmati Ashram, Gandhi's base from 1917 to 1930, the Sufi complex of Sarkhej Roza, the five-storey stepwell at Adalaj and the modernist buildings of Le Corbusier, Louis Kahn and B. V. Doshi. World Heritage Week, from 19 to 25 November, brings extra walks, talks and exhibitions.
