The Saptak Annual Festival of Music is held in Ahmedabad from 1 to 13 January every year, thirteen consecutive nights of Hindustani classical music and one of the country's best-known classical festivals. It is organised by the Saptak School of Music, founded by the tabla player Nandan Mehta, the sitarist Manju Mehta and their associates. The festival began in 1980 as a single evening inaugurated by Pandit Ravi Shankar and Pandit Kishan Maharaj, and by 2010 it was presenting more than 130 musicians across 15 sessions. Each night typically offers three recitals, moving from a younger artist to senior vocalists and instrumentalists, and concerts run late into the night. Audiences sit close to the stage, many on the floor, and listening etiquette is taken seriously. Saptak is run by a public charitable trust, and entry has traditionally been by registration with the organisers instead of ordinary ticket sales. The venue, artist schedule and registration details for the January 2027 edition are published by Saptak in December and had not been announced at the time of writing. This page lists Saptak sessions and other classical concerts in Ahmedabad as they are confirmed.

- Follow Saptak's own website from early December for the artist schedule, venue and how to register. Do not rely on resellers.
- Sessions start in the evening and the final recital often ends well after midnight. Arrange your own transport home.
- January nights in Ahmedabad are cold and sessions run late. Carry a shawl or jacket.
- Arrive before the first recital for a good place, and keep your phone silent and in your pocket; recording is discouraged.
- The riverfront flower show is usually on in the same fortnight, and Uttarayan follows on 14 January, so early January is a good time to visit the city.
