Mahatma Mandir is Gujarat's flagship convention and exhibition centre, developed by the state government on a 34-acre site in Sector 13C of Gandhinagar and themed on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. The first phase was built between May 2010 and January 2011, in time for that year's Vibrant Gujarat summit, and the complex has hosted every edition of the summit since. The Yellow Line now runs from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir station, which is the easiest way to arrive from Ahmedabad. Allow about an hour from the city centre. Summits and government events need pre-registration and photo ID; public exhibitions usually register visitors at the gate. Security is tight during state events and nearby roads may be closed.
