About Law Garden Night Market
Law Garden is a municipal park in Ellisbridge, officially Sheth Motilal Hirabhai Park, but the name usually refers to the evening market along its walls. Stalls sell Kutchi and Saurashtra-style handicrafts: mirror-work chaniya cholis, embroidered kedias, bandhani dupattas, wall hangings, bags and oxidised jewellery. In the weeks before Navratri it is the city's busiest place to buy a garba outfit. The street-food stretch beside it, long known as the khau gali, was rebuilt by the municipal corporation in 2020 as a pedestrian-friendly food street. The park itself was redeveloped in 1997 and is open for walks through the day. Bargaining is expected at the handicraft stalls, and prices climb sharply in the last days before Navratri.
