About Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum
The Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum occupies Lalbaug, the Shahibaug home of the industrialist Kasturbhai Lalbhai, and opened to the public in 2017. The restored heritage building shows the family's collection room by room: Mughal miniatures, Pahari and Rajput miniatures, a Rasamanjari series, Tibetan art and drawings, and paintings of the Bengal school. A second building houses the Sanjay and Jayshree Lalbhai collection of modern and contemporary Indian art, including a gallery of works in glass. The museum has also mounted temporary exhibitions, among them shows on Amrita Sher-Gil and Manu Parekh. Visits have been run as guided tours with limited numbers, so it rewards planning ahead.
