About Kanoria Centre for Arts
The Kanoria Centre for Arts is a working campus for artists on the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Campus, opposite Gujarat University, sharing the grounds with CEPT University. Founded in 1984 by Urmila Kanoria in buildings designed by B. V. Doshi, it gives painters, sculptors, printmakers and ceramic artists subsidised studios and holds regular exhibitions of their work in its galleries. The shaded courtyards and open-air spaces are also used for art fairs, talks, film screenings, craft workshops and literary and design festivals, and have hosted editions of the Gujarat Literature Festival. Amdavad ni Gufa and the Hutheesing Visual Art Centre are a few steps away, so an afternoon here can take in three or four shows without leaving the campus.
