About GMDC Ground
GMDC Ground is the large open ground on the 132 Feet Ring Road in the Gujarat University area, named after the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation. For years it has been the address most Amdavadis associate with the state government's Navratri festival, with a main garba arena, craft and food stalls and nightly performances. Outside Navratri it takes consumer exhibitions, property and auto shows, religious discourses, political rallies and ticketed concerts that need more room than an auditorium offers. For 2026, Gujarat Tourism lists the state Navratri festival, running 11 to 19 October, at the Gujarat University Ground near Helmet Circle in the same belt. There are no permanent stands; each organiser builds its own stage, seating and entry gates.
